Already??

On Thursday, Applewill reveal iPhone 4.0. Can you Jailbreak iPhone 4.0? You may be able to, but that depends on the device you are using and whether or not Apple patches the exploit. A hacker named comex, recently discovered an iPad Jailbreak, but won’t be releasing it until the iPad 3G is out. If the iPad jailbreak is released before iPhone OS 4.0, Apple has enough time to patch the exploit and possibly permanently disable a jailbreak for iPhone 3GS and iPad users. If you have an already jailbroken device (excluding the iPhone3GS or iPod touch 3G) then you will always be able to jailbreak.

Apple loves to play the cat and mouse game, but so far the iPhone hackers have always found an exploit in their firmware that has allowed users to jailbreak. It is likely that users will be able to jailbreak iPhone 4.0 once it’s released. The worst Apple could probably do is make the firmware so secure that users of the newer iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G, and iPad will need to re-jailbreak every time they reboot their device (also called tethered jailbreak).
